On Monday night Maya and I went to see the White Stripes.  What a show…  I can’t actually describe how amazingly good it was.  In terms of live shows I’ve seen this was in the top 3 for sure.  I really appreciate a few things about this show:

1. They kept the energy level up.  The opening act (Dan Sartain) was rocky/bluesy/energy-y was a good start and when Jack and Meg were high energy from start to finish.  Even the slow songs had a kind of intensity/energy that kept the crowd into it.

2.  They played the room well - not a whole lot of crowd interaction but they did the things that mattered.  Especially at the end – they thanked everyone there for coming and for buying their music.  They then posed with both the Newfoundland provincial flag and the flag of the republic (that would be the green white and pink for those not in the know).

3.  They played songs from all their albums - a good mix of stuff everyone knew and some more obscurish stuff (ie songs that weren’t singles)

I was also surprised at how well Meg sang… She only sang once but it sounded so much better than on the album.

All in all well worth the price of admission.
